Multitasking

Now that's multitasking! Jim is holding James, feeding him a bottle, and playing video games. This is yet more proof that he's the better parent than I (I can seriously only do one thing at a time.)

Computers

This is a very cute picture of Buster and Grandpa Neumann playing on the computer. He loves watching Grandpa work (actually, he's playing a game...shhh!)

It's weird for me to think that James is going to grow up knowing how to use a computer and just technology in general (he also loves my cell phone.) I remember when I was in 3rd grade learning how to use a computer - an Apple (back when Apple computers were called Apples and not Macs.) The screen was black and the text was green. One of our lessons was how cool it was that we could hold down a letter and it would keep appearing (kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk). This was back when floppy disks were actually...floppy. Then I had to learn how to use a cell phone and then I had to learn how to use the touchpad on my laptop. It's very strange to me sometimes to think that these are things Buster is going to take for granted. Of course, there will come a time when he says the same things about his kids :)

Best Friends

When I was pregnant, Sam was beyond excited. When I told him that the baby would not come for a while his response was "like, in 2 weeks?" Later he informed me that he was going to take all the books out of his backpack in order to carry Buster around in it. He told me over and over how him and Buster were going to be best friends. And they are! Buster smiles and laughs just by looking at our Sammer. Here are some pictures of the bosom buddies -

Let him eat cake!

In honor of my birthday, we gave Buster some cake. Behold the carnage:

"What do I do with this?" (note how clean he is at the moment)

"Mmmmm....tasty...."

"Can I fit this whole thing in my mouth?"

What a mess!

"More please!"

We had so much fun giving Buster some cake. I have never laughed so hard! I should note that this came right on the heels of me telling my mom not to give Buster any pudding because it has too much sugar in it...

10 reasons why Buster loves me

I just read an interesting article on Parents.com listing 10 reasons why your baby loves you (your voice, smell, etc.) Inspired here's my own list of 10 reasons why Buster loves me and Jim.

  1. We feed him. Seriously - you should see how excited he gets over food
  2. We have cats. He can't get enough of Beaker and Cache. Just seeing them makes him squeal with delight.
  3. I sing to him. Despite horribly I sing "L.O.V.E." he still quiets down.
  4. We are the keepers of the Tylenol
  5. No matter how naughty it is, we continue to let him nap in our arms
  6. We play with him - his favorite is "drop the baby", which involves us pretending to drop him.
  7. We feed him.
  8. We always get him in the morning and he always greets us with a huge smile from the crib.
  9. We change his diaper. He hates hates hates a dirty diaper
  10. We love him and make sure he knows every day.

and a bonus:

11. We feed him.

What a weekend

We had a weekend that tested all of our parenting capabilities (which, to be honest, are not much.) About 3 weeks ago Jimmy was sick the flu. Then last week I was sick with the flu. And now? It's James' turn! Our poor guy woke up on Saturday morning with a fever that eventually topped out at about 102. We gave him Tylenol all day hoping to break it. He was so cuddly and lethargic, our hearts broke just looking at the poor guy. Then at about 7:00 he had a fever of about 101 (with Tylenol) and ended up projectile vomiting all over the living room and his daddy and our sofa. So I made our first emergency call to the pediatrician while Jimmy gave James a bath. The doctor said we were doing everything right and not to worry. After all the brouhaha we tried to put him to bed but he just wanted to be held and cuddle. So we gave in (he was sick after all) and let him sleep with us for one night. He would cuddle with Daddy, then he would roll over and cuddle with Mama.

He woke up on Sunday feeling slightly better, but he still wasn't himself. He had slightly more interest in playing, which was good. We still had to give him Tylenol all day because he still had a fever, but at least he was feeling slightly better. He enjoyed watching the football game with his Daddy (I don't know what he's going to do until August.) And he was able to sleep in his own bed last night (albeit with numerous wakings.) Things seem to have slowly started returning to normal for us.

On a picture note - I seem to have misplaced my digital camera, so once I find it I promise to post more pictures!
